How Aaron landed $15K in new clients from one webinar [in an afternoon]

No clickbait here 🙂 I start off with this because getting $15k in revenue through one talk seems almost too good to be true. But this is exactly what one of my clients, Aaron Norris achieved. And in this email I’ll tell you how we did it.

Aaron was a leader at Amazon, who started his own business last year. At Amazon he was a top performer and already had above-average presentation skills.

But he only knew how to communicate in a very specific setting – the corporate one.

And now – Aaron knew he had to re-learn how to sell and communicate as himself – not as a representative of a huge brand.

He no longer had the credibility of the Amazon brand to back him up.

He had to create his own credibility and build his own reputation.

He wanted to do webinars, podcasts and guest talks in exclusive business communities. His goal was to spread the word about who he was and how he could help potential clients.

He wanted to attract clients instead of having to chase after them.

He had to speak in a way that would establish his credibility and reputation with a completely new audience.

When Aaron came to me for coaching, he had a new opportunity to speak at an exclusive community that was full of potential high-ticket clients.

He had a few weeks to prepare and it was the perfect time to make sure he hit the ground running and showcased his expertise in the best light.

How Aaron landed $15K in new clients from one webinar [in an afternoon]

This is what we did:

  • Initially, I took him through my Communication Skills Deep Dive to understand where he was at with his speaking skills. Using self-evaluations and anonymous peer feedback, we created a list of his strengths and opportunity areas.

  • Then, adapting for his input and learning style, I split the coaching program into 3 parts:

    – First, we worked on foundational skills using my speaker toolkit – this is where Aaron learned how to use his voice, energy, and body language to communicate in ways he hadn’t explored before.

    – Then we specifically targeted his opportunity areas – doing live role-plays and exercises in our sessions. Aaron recorded speaking exercises between our sessions. Then, I guided him to critically review his own performance like top 1% athletes, so that he would have a basis for self-improvement and skill development.

    – Finally, we worked to reframe any limiting beliefs he had been holding on to that stood in the way of him speaking with impact and influence.

After a few intense weeks of coaching, Aaron delivered his webinar – and absolutely smashed it.
